Look Away
Based on Mary Todd Lincoln: Her Life and Letters by Justin G. Turner and Linda Levitt Turner and adopted for the stage by Jerome Kilty, Look Away is a compelling theatrical duet set in the Bellevue Insane Asylum in Batavia, Illinois, on Mrs. Lincoln's last night of residence. Imagining she is once again at home in the White House with her seamstress, Elizabeth Keekly, Mrs. Lincoln talks about her life and mistreatment accorded her by a penurious Senate and by her one surviving son who lobbied for her commitment.
