The Buffalo Box (Grades: K to 4)

How can a “Buffalo Box” reveal history? Museum docents will bring our “Buffalo Box” and a variety of other objects to represent the important role of the buffalo and other animals in the culture of the nineteenth-century Great Plains tribes. The program combines storytelling and touch objects to engage students, using inquiry as a starting point to deepen their understanding of the Plains Indian culture. The storytelling segment includes traditional American Indian tales.
