America I AM: The African American Imprint celebrates African American contributions to our nation through artifacts, documents, multimedia, photographs and music. Designed to unite and educate Americans of all cultures, ages and backgrounds, the exhibition features more than 200 artifacts, including the doors to the Cape Coast Castle in Ghana; Alex Haley's typewriter used to write "Roots;" personal items belonging to Malcolm X; the door key from the Birmingham jail cell that held Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; sports memorabilia from Michael Jordan, Arthur Ashe and Muhammad Ali; and artifacts from legendary entertainers such as Etta James and Michael Jackson. Visitors will gain a better understanding of the indelible African American imprint on our nation.
