Girl Scout and Cub Scout Programs

The Missouri History Museum offers merit assistance programs for Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts!  Through close examination of artifacts, discussion, and hands-on activities, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts gain the skills needed to complete requirements.

The Missouri History Museum works with Girl Scouts to complete requirements for the following merits:

  • Daisies: Vi petal 
  • Brownies:  Celebrating Community Legacy Badge
  • Juniors:  Playing the Past Skill Building Badge

The Missouri History Museum works with Cub Scouts to complete the requirements for the following merits:

  • Tiger Cubs:  Making My Family Special Go See It! Activity
  • Wolf Cubs:  American Indian Lore Arrow Point
  • Bear Cubs:  American Indian Life Arrow Point
  • Webelo Scouts:  Citizen Badge

The cost for private merit assistance tours is $50 for groups of up to 12 scouts.  To make private reservations for your group, Register Online or call (314) 361-9017. For more information about how the programs work, please contact lnewton@mohistory.org.  We require 4 weeks advance notice for private tours.

Girl Scout and Cub Scout Days  

FREE Opportunity! On Girl Scout and Cub Scout Days, individual scouts and groups can register to attend merit assistance programs at scheduled times along with other scouts.  Registration for ALL Girl Scout and Cub Scout Days is now open!  Call (314) 454-3114 or email Lnewton@mohistory.org to make reservations. Please indicate pack or troop number, date, time and choice of program, number of girls or boys in attendance, adult contact name, contact phone number, and contact email.

For Daisies:
We invite Daisies to join us in The 1904 World's Fair gallery to complete steps for the Vi petal.  We'll read Vi's story Friends Around the World, create murals, and do other activities enjoyed by girls in other countries.  Our Daisy programs are currently filled to capacity.  We invite you to register and enjoy the other open activitiesWe are looking into additional Daisy time slots. To inquire about being added to the wait list, please email lnewton@mohistory.org.

For Brownies:
We invite Brownies to complete requirements for the Celebrating Community Legacy badge at the following times:
10:00am-11:00am
11:00am-12:00pm
12:00pm-1:00pm
3:30pm-4:30pm

For Juniors:
We invite Juniors to complete requirements for the Playing the Past Skill Building Badge at the following times:
11:00am-12:00pm

While you're here working on badges, drop in for some of these fun FREE activities as well!

  • 9:00am-5:00pm - Mammoths & Mastodons Exhibit Viewing:  This is an exclusive FREE opportunity for Girl Scouts.  Tickets normally cost $10-15.
  • 11:00am-2:30pm - Girl Scout Birthday Party Prehistoric-Style:  As the year 2012 approaches, so does the Girl Scouts' 100th birthday!  Girls will decorate their own cupcakes and have a chance to make woolly mammoth masks and mastodon puppets.
  • 11:00am-12:30pm - Radio Disney Live Appearance: Listen to music, dance, play games, and enter to win prizes!
  • 1:00pm - Theatre in the Museum: In Search of the Mastodon: Girls will love this tale of a paleontologist's search for information about Missouri's prehistoric mastodons--with a very special celebrity appearance!
  • 1:30-2:30pm* - Poetry Workshop: How to Cope Using Words: In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, join author Katie Rodriguez Banister for a poetry writing workshop.
  • 2:00pm - Theatre in the Museum: Resurrection 150: St. Louis's Black Rep presents this short performance that illustrates the African American experience of the Civil War.
  • 3:30-4:30pm* - Dunham Dance Class: Professional dance instructor Nicole Thomas leads a Dunham-inspired dance workshop.

*Reservations are required for the Poetry Workshop and Dunham Dance Class.
