The Last Butterflies Holocaust Quilt
brochure: last butterflies holocaust quilt
Quilting is both a utilitarian skill and an artistic expression. Like a painter or a sculptor, quilters can use quilting to commemorate important and deeply personal events, as well as beloved family members and friends. Quilter and counselor Jody Amberg speaks about creating a Holocaust quilt, which she dedicated to Maria Szapszewicz, a Holocaust survivor and dear friend. According to Amberg, "My statement in this quilt is to cry out and demand a stop in the continuation of other Holocausts. This quilt was made to remember and to commemorate and honor the living and dead who were victims of such hatred and to question our values and our vision for the future."
