The Maps Card File is an old-style card file that lists the Library and Research Center's collection of maps and atlases. The following are among the highlights of the maps collection:

• St. Louis City and County street maps and plat maps from the 19th and 20th centuries
• Whipple and Sanborn fire insurance maps, circa 1870s-1940s
• County atlases for many Missouri counties that show landowners' names, late 19th century to early 20th century
• 19th-century United States railroad maps
• 18th-century and 19th-century maps of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers
