Katherine Dunham Collection
In 1991, internationally known anthropologist and choreographer Katherine Dunham gave a large collection of dance costumes and personal memorabilia to the Missouri History Museum. Letters, cards, brochures, pamphlets, and other items document relationships that Miss Dunham established throughout the world. The photographs of Katherine Dunham with international leaders, actors, and community activists are visual evidence of her influence. The range of props, ethnographic material, and costumes convey the diversity of her interests.
