Gearheads

After many years of tinkering with motor buggies and early automobiles, companies became less experimental and more consumer driven. Customers were growing accustomed to the automobile, and expectations were rising. Companies such as Dorris, Moon, and Gardner were bringing their vehicles up to a standard of luxury and were marketing their autos based on expert engineering, standard features, and style. Cars were becoming even more of a status symbol than before, and prices were quickly rising.

• Motor Wagons: St. Louis Gasoline Motor Company

• Rigs That Run: St. Louis Motor Carriage Company

• Dr. Dyke's Painless Prices: The A. L. Dyke Company

• Only $250!: The Success Auto-Buggy Company
