At the Elbows of My Elders: One Family's Journey Toward Civil Rights
1:00pm: Reception
2:00pm: Presentation
While America is familiar with the modern civil rights movement begun in the 1950s, little has been published about black families who had been fighting segregation in their local communities for decades. In this memoir published by the Missouri History Museum, Gail Milissa Grant draws back the curtain on those times and presents touching vignettes of a life most Americans know nothing about. Prior to the presentation, join us at 1:00pm for a reception sponsored by the St. Louis Chapter of The Girl Friends, Inc.
Books will be available for purchase in Louisiana Purchase, the museum's shop, and the author will sign books after the presentation.
