Welcome to the Publications of the Missouri History Museum
Our mission is to expose our readers—through the books we publish, our magazine, Gateway, and our online publication, Voices—to perspectives of St. Louis and Missouri not usually introduced in simple history lessons. Mining both the historical and contemporary cultural, social, and political issues of our region, we strive to publish stories that resonate with our community and highlight the common heritage we all share.

We invite you to peruse our online book catalog. We have covered the birth of St. Louis in 1764, the 1998 home-run record of Mark McGwire, the Lewis and Clark expedition, the Civil War, the 1904 World’s Fair, the local civil rights movement and African American history, and many more topics. Biographies, memoirs, art books, children’s books, guidebooks, songbooks—the history of Missouri comes to life within these pages!

MHM books and magazines have won awards from the American Association of Museums, the Missouri Conference on History, the American Association of State and Local History, the Independent Book Publishers Association, and Independent Publisher Online.
