A Museum for the 21st Century The Spirit of St. Louis Replica. Marcella Wiget MacDermott Grand Hall
In 1927, a St. Louis airmail pilot named Charles Lindbergh brought the world together to celebrate his triumphant solo non-stop flight from New York to Paris. The replica, acquired by the Missouri Historical Society in 1962, has been fully restored and now hangs in the centerof the Grand Hall - a symbol of human dreams and courage. Built in 1928 by the Ryan Airlines Corporation, the company which built the original plane, the replica was used in the movie "The Spirit of St. Louis" starring Jimmy Stewart.
