History in a Box!
Book a docent to come to you with a “box” filled with artifacts and other interesting items. 
Learning to Look
Grades K–3
What can we learn from looking at objects? Learning to Look brings authentic historical objects from our collection to you. Our docent staff will use objects, images, stories, and interactive activities to enhance participants’ observational and verbal skills.

Tools of the Trade
Grades K–5
What’s that do? Who used that? These are just a couple of questions that are answered in this new and exciting outreach program. Tools of the Trade brings one of our docents along with objects and images from our collection to you. Participants will be engaged through touch objects, activities, and stories to gain a better understanding of the tools and jobs that helped to build St. Louis.

Historic St. Louis
Grades 6–12
Examine documents, images, and objects that represent key historic events in St. Louis history. Events such as the Great Fire of 1849 and landmark decisions such as the Dred Scott Case will be presented by our docent staff. Participants will be engaged through close looking, group discussion, and writing activities.

The Buffalo Box
Grades K–4
How can a “Buffalo Box” reveal history? Museum docent staff will bring our “Buffalo Box” and a variety of other objects to represent the important role of the buffalo and other animals in the culture of the 19th-century Great Plains tribes. The program combines storytelling and touch objects to engage students, using inquiry as a starting point to deepen their understanding of the Plains Indian culture. The storytelling segment includes traditional American Indian tales.
Duration: 45–60 minutes
