What Future?

From the beginning of the 20th century, St. Louisans had ideas about how flight would change the shape of work and play in the future. Some of these were pure fantasy, but others were based on hard science and persistent effort. Scientists and pilots continued to test the boundaries as Steve Fossett recently became the first man to circle the globe alone in a hot air balloon.

Throughout the final section of the exhibit, visitors will get a sense of past aviation goals for St. Louis and the new goals currently being set. Visitors will be able to see the similarities and differences of past, present, and future goals. Finally, the exhibit will encourage visitors to imagine the aviation possibilities yet in store for St. Louis.
