Exhibit Preview

Throughout history, humans have been captivated by the idea of flight. From single-person balloons to spacecraft, the city of St. Louis has been home to individuals and industries that have helped shape and define aviation. Flight City: St. Louis Takes to the Air explores the history of flight in and around St. Louis through stories, artifacts, photographs, and multimedia presentations. In particular, the exhibit explores the following main themes: Why Fly?, What Impact?, What Industries?, and What Future?.

While answering these questions, visitors will have the opportunity to view hundreds of original artifacts and interact with the exhibit through multimedia presentations. In doing so, visitors will experience for themselves the growth and development of flight in St. Louis.
