Saturday, January 27, 2007 Visions of Liberty, or Death? Explore your own personal views and those of the fellow St. Louisan sitting beside you in this provocative, eye-opening program. Experience the world not through another man’s shoes, but through his eyes, as we delve into the eclectic and perhaps harrowing feelings that certain images can provoke. This is a participatory program, facilitated by ADL’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute, aimed at an adult audience. 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday, January 30, 2007 Expressions of American Liberty and Freedom What is it to have freedom of expression in America? Join Susan Shipman Cryer as she presents dramatic readings of literature and poetry that explore the visions of selected American writers — free spirits who have engaged their individual and uniquely creative perceptions of their lives and times. From the stark boldness of Stephen Crane to the whimsical fantasy of e.e. cummings, from the oblique humor in the short stories of Donald Barthelme to the zany quality of Woody Allen, each of these innovative writers shows an original and uncensored style, subject and vision. 7 p.m.
Friday, February 23, 2007 "Love Jones" Featuring Saul Williams Join groundbreaking poet Saul Williams for an evening of spoken word artistry. Williams has defined and redefined poetry as an accessible, living art form for thousands of youth across America, and his poetry has served as the archetype for a new generation of poets and spoken word artists. Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to hear Williams share his own vision of American liberty. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Tickets on sale now at the Missouri History Museum, or by calling (314) 361-9017 7 p.m.
